“I found CompLogix to be much more developed with a very clean user interface, robust analytics and more flexibility to tailor to our compensation strategies at Nexthink”
The Challenge
As Nexthink grew rapidly, its compensation processes did not keep pace with leadership needs for timely, detailed decision-making. Business leaders needed to view and analyze compensation information in ways that supported merit increases, bonus distribution, pay equity, and total rewards strategy, but the company was still relying on mostly manual processes.
The legacy approach depended heavily on spreadsheets, which led to cumbersome data collection, slow report gathering and distribution, and limited visibility for leaders making decisions for distributed teams. The challenge was not just executing payroll accurately, it was enabling decision-quality insight across a complex global environment.
Nexthink needed to support multiple views into compensation, including high-level hierarchical rollups and highly detailed analyses for evaluating compensation bias and pay equity. In addition, the team needed market data insight and a way to streamline employee information to build compensation packages that attract and retain talent in a highly competitive market for digital and IT professionals.
The requirements were amplified by global dispersion, shifting roles, and evolving org structures, all of which increased the need for a solution that was both robust and configurable.
The Solution
Nexthink formed an evaluation group led by Miguel DaFonseca that included stakeholders across People, Talent Systems, and Global Compensation. They evaluated multiple solutions. While many products covered baseline compensation management needs, few provided the flexibility necessary to configure compensation strategies to Nexthink’s specific requirements.
CompLogix differentiated on configurability, analytics, and usability. Nexthink valued the ability to tailor the system to their compensation strategies without needing to build the kind of administrative structure required by some HCM systems with compensation modules.
The platform’s flexibility mattered in the context of rapid growth and continuously changing job roles and organizational structures. Nexthink also utilized the built-in 9 box calibration tool to support reviews, enabling leaders to make decisions based on long-term performance and potential assessments.
The Impact
The transition from manual spreadsheets to CompLogix was rapid and operationally smooth. As Miguel described the implementation timeline: “We had a fully functioning Strategy and System within a month’s time,” and emphasized ongoing support: “The CompLogix team continues to be great partners; they are extremely responsive and supportive of our needs.”
Nexthink reported immediate reductions in leader confusion and administrative effort because information such as market compensation and pay history became easily accessible. As Miguel stated: “Almost immediately, we saw a reduction in questions from the business leaders, as everything from market compensation to pay history was now available at their fingertips,” along with reduced time required to upload and prepare data for analysis.
Administration was streamlined by managing decisions and recommendations collaboratively with business leaders in real time, which accelerated hierarchical reviews and approvals. The end result was a faster, more data-rich environment for global compensation program management and decision-making.
Miguel summarized the value proposition in a single statement:
“CompLogix provides a unique ability to streamline global compensation programs and decision-making through a modern platform with robust analytical capabilities. Their capacity to be ‘system agnostic’ allows the platform to work with all market-tiered HRIS/HCM systems, both cloud or on-premise.”
